Just wanted to let everyone know that the Bordelonville Vol. Fire Dept and the Community of Bordelonville will be having their annual Christmas Parade on December 4 @ 12:00. No cost for entries. For more information are to enter a float please contact Tammy at 318-359-9201.

Moreauville will have their Christmas Parade the same day at @ 2pm.

The Spirit of Louisiana is suppose to be in both parades.

Chief Darren Hebert passed away Monday,October 9th.  The services are as follows:
Monday, October 24-Visitation 9 am to 1 pm at First Presbyterian Church
at 522 Green Street, Thibodaux 
Funeral will begin at 1 pm with burial at St Joseph Cemetery on La 1.

The department is looking for honor guard members to assist in the
Casket Watch, Bell Ceremony and Folding of the Colors.  

Any help you can provide would be greatly appreciated.

Chief Hebert was a member of the Lafourche Crossing 308 VFD in 
Thibodaux.

Subject: 2% Fire Insurance Rebate Distribution

Friends,

I wanted to update you all on the recent distribution of your funds from the 2% Fire Insurance Rebate Tax. You might have noticed that you received less funds then you did last year. The reason is that an error occurred. Last years Vol. Firefighters workers comp premium and this current years premium, were both paid from last years collections. This accounting transaction caused you to received less than a 3% reduction as was stated by the new payment method for this insurance program. When we were made aware of this situation last week, Representative Karen St. Germain and Myself met with the Treasures Office to get an explanation and they agreed that this prepayment caused this reduction.

The Treasurer's Office informed our Undersecretary Mrs. Jill Boudreaux today, that they intend to make a second distribution of funds from this years collections to pay you all back the amount you should have received as directed by the changes we made last year. They have been totally supportive and understanding of the need to correct this problem ASAP. I hope to hear back next week from them on the exact date they will proceed with the distribution. Understand they have a process for approval that they are expediting, as I write you, to close this issue.

I want to take this time to thank the Insurance Committee, that the fire associations have seated representation and remind you that today we protect all Firefighters in this State with coverage to provide for them and their family.
