Tracey Normand named Gonzales Fire Chief
Tracey N. Normand has been appointed City of Gonzales Fire Chief.
Normand, centered in the picture, succeeds former Chief Butch Browning who resigned after being named State Fire Marshal by Gov. Bobby Jindal.
Normand began serving as acting fire chief after Dwayne Gipson, who was named acting fire chief to replace Browning, was called into the National Guard.
The new chief entered the fire service profession 17 years ago and also served eight years in the Louisiana Army National Guard.
Normand was employed with the Louisiana State University Fire Emergency and Training Institute for four years where he became manager of Industrial Fire and Emergency Response programs.
In the summer of 2002, Normand began his career with the Gonzales Fire Department as a firefighter, but quickly progressed through the ranks to become District Fire Chief.
Kris Johnson, on the right in the picture and Preston Landry, on the left were also promoted to the positions of District Fire Chief when Normand was named Fire Chief. Both Johnson and Landry have served with the Gonzales Fire Department since 2001.
